In the same thread, user Dogtimus, equipped with a Siegfried flair, said what we were all thinking, “YES YES YES YES YES YES”. R/Kappa user ScottishOwl said of the reveal, “Was so worried he wouldn't make it in since Nightmare was in already, let's go.” “Gotta love how his animations, specially the CE, make his sword feel more heavy compared to Nightmare's superhuman strength,” said r/SoulCalibur user NightmareT12. Reddit was already abuzz soon after the news broke. Reveal trailers always generate tons of hype, but for characters like Siegfried, that emotion is amped up a notch. Like the backup quarterback in football, the most popular piece of content in fighting games is the character reveal trailer of a game that hasn’t been released yet. Bandai Namco should be happy with the work they’ve done with Siegfried, as he looks to be one of the most impressive characters in the game so far, at least as far as animations go. His animations convey the message that this is a man fighting for his life and looking to end the fight with every individual swing. The additions are slight, like the open underarm areas and the spiked kneepads (and the very fashionable scarf,) but they are welcome and should play nice with Soulcalibur VI’s armor destruction mechanic. Longtime players would be sure to be upset if Siegfried lost his signature hard-hitting style with some knees and kicks peppered in. Bandai Namco doesn’t seem to be reinventing the wheel with Siegfried, which is good. Siegfried is an example of a reboot done well: he’s been changed enough that it’s fresh, but some things (like punishing giant sword slams and being tortured by Nightmare) are still around. Let’s check out the quick reveal trailer below: This shouldn’t really have been such a shock, as Siggy’s been a focal point of the Soulcalibur story since the beginning, and it appears that he’ll reclaim his vital role in this iteration of the game. As the game looks like a reboot, we were shocked to see the Big Guy with the Big Sword after seeing Nightmare’s appearance in the initial trailer of the game. Or, they can play through both. So, color us shocked: Siegfried is back in Soulcalibur VI. These two options give gamers the choice to decide how they want to experience the story. Libra of Souls acts as an RPG, where you’ll have the chance to earn points and level up your character. They essentially cover the same timeline but in drastically different ways. The developers decided to put not one but two story modes in this game, giving fans plenty of content to sink their teeth into. If you enjoy story modes just as much as the action in fighting games, then you’re going to love Soulcalibur 6. It’s a pretty unique feature that could be just what you need to gain back some momentum in a major way. It basically determines who attacks next.
